Oh buddy, this is another one of them "The New Water Starter Is Ugly" ordeals. Ever since the 7th Generation starters were revealed, it seems as though Popplio, here gets a lot of backlash and hatred directed towards it. Perhaps it's because of it's clown-like appearance.
Honestly, I'm not too fond of any of the 7th Gen starters. That doesn't mean I hate them, because I DON'T! They just feel less like starters, and more like common Pokemon to me. :/ Maybe when their evolutions are revealed, I might warm up to them (I still like them, as Pokémon, in general...just not as starter Pokémon, if that makes since).

SUM XTRA INFO:
This is actually the very first pic drawn in 2016 that I've submitted on here. My past few pics I've posted this year have all been ones done a year or so ago.

Of course, with it being a new Pokémon, this was my first attempt at drawing Popplio.



ARTIST COMPLAINT:
It's not really a major complaint, but I originally wanted to save the sketch version of this before coloring it, However, I started inking it shortly after finishing the sketch. I told myself I would save the lineart version before I added any color to it...but I ended up coloring it shortly after completing the lineart. So, yeah....there's no saved sketch or inked version of this piece.

The background was a last-minute add-on that didn't turn out the way I wanted it to.
